Project Description

Camp Polyhacks is a 12-hour Hackathon planned by Cal Poly students where designers, developers, and entrepreneurs come together to solve local issues. Four main topics were given during this event; one being a way for low-income families to receive child care at little to no cost. My team and I's application provided a solution that allowed parents to communicate with other parents to provide child care through the exchange of hours. A parent would be able to create a profile, add information about themselves, their children, and when they are available. This app would also help with network building and would alleviate the stress of finding child care. Our deliverable included a prototype, a business pitch, and a coded product.

For parents working low-wage jobs and/or with multiple young children, paying for licensed child care on top of living expenses is simply unaffordable.
